About Tony Bailey

At Microsoft, I’ve worked in a number of areas including security response, firewall and VPN products and virtualization technologies. Recently I joined the Intellectual Property Licensing team to pursue something close to my heart which is bringing open innovation opportunities to Microsoft’s breadth partners. My goal is to build out and promote programs that enable partners, startups and entrepreneurs to more easily license Microsoft research technologies via easy to use online processes.

I was born in Robin Hood country: Nottingham, England and attended the University of Birmingham, UK where I obtained Bachelor and Doctorate degrees in Metallurgy and Materials Science.

My early career focused on research and development in magnetic alloys, lasers, and optical fiber communications; and research projects have been published in several scientific publications.

I’ve spent the last several years working in high technology organizations that have provided network security and network infrastructure solutions where I worked in product management, created marketing programs and developed revenue for IPOs, mergers, and acquisitions..

When I’m not having fun with family, you’ll see me, Zune-attached and lifting weights, running or biking.
