As I reported in my blogs about the recent CTIA conference, there are lots of emerging companies building infrastructure solutions to assist carrier deploy value added services to the consumers.
Mobixell (http://www.mobixell.com) is one such company. They have a platform that allows carriers to do just that. Their Rich Media Service Center platform allows consolidation of rich media adaptation, transcoding, optimization into a centrally managed comprehensive solution. Using this platform, the carriers can easily manage things like Multimedia Messaging,Content Delivery and Management, Video On Demand and Mobile Blogging.
My guess is that this company has probably built a lot of this infrastructure technology from scratch. Microsoft of course with the Connected Service Framework (http://www.microsoft.com/serviceproviders/solution...) would probably help a company like this go to market much faster. I am still amazed as to why this great platform from Microsoft seems to be the biggest secret ( even though there have been quite a bit of press about it). Are mobile infrastructure companies not paying attention? Or does Microsoft need to do a better job at getting this message out. My guess is probably a little bit of both.
I would love to see a company like this reduce their development costs by leveraging more of the platform that Microsoft provides.
