Shoot and Proof is a unique patented technology from French startup Codasystem, which gives legal authenticity to a picture / sound or video captured with a smartphone. Digital media usage has considerably increased in the past decade; our digital lifestyle now including tons of pictures, and movies. They are used by professionals and individuals alike for their convenience and ease of use. But there’s the other side of the coin; the major drawback of digital media is that they can easily be modified to potentially distort reality
Shoot and Proof is a piece of software, running on Windows Mobile OS, and a web storage platform. The mobile software takes over the camera of the phone and before turning the image into a jpeg file, watermarks it with a certified timestamp (obtained through a data connection) and with geospatial information if available (GPS or cellular position). The file is then locally encrypted and stored until it is sent to the Shoot & Proof storage platform, where the pictures are indexed, placed on maps and stored in conformity with legally demanding norms.
There are many instances I can think of where there is a need to prove the authenticity of a digital picture. One of the obvious places to use this technology is in law enforcement. For example, wherever there is a need to provide a timestamp of a photograph or prove to a judge that a picture is original and has not be altered, this is an easy solution.
Value to the Microsoft Mobile Stack:
Shoot and Proof provides a possible good value proposition to sell Windows Mobile devices into Law enforcement agencies like Police forces worldwide. Pictures taken by police of crime scene situations can have legal authenticity in a court of law.
